Description
Manufacturer: Controllaser CLC
Model: C-70
Condition: For Parts or Not Working. Comes in non-original packaging. The laser head was near a liquid applicator and has black "stuff" (we don't know what) splashed on the outside of the scanning head. The controller and computer have "rack rash" and other ugly scratches. We noticed the gaskets in the shutter area are out of position. The galvo mirrors are clean and look in good condition. The output focusing lens has damaged coatings and light scratches that don't catch a fingernail. The controller has several missing and misplaced connectors (see photo). Please NOTE: many of the labels on these parts are faded or worn away. The laser head is a match for Coherent model C-70 based on dimensions, warning label markings, and power requirement, as found in manuals from Coherent online.
The photos show the exact item(s) the buyer will receive.
Notes: This lot is in PARTIAL working condition. It was removed from a decommissioned system and most of that system is missing, so we were not able to get the laser working without shenanigans. Photo #6 shows our slightly sketchy testing situation. Several jumpers were involved and power inside the controller was rewired, to enable the shutter to open and to power the galvo drives. We suspect at least one bad control board or cable, because plugging the RJ45 from the laser to the PCB in the controller caused a "Laser Temperature High!" status when the laser temperature status is OK (see screenshots). The Laser Marking Studio software was able to communicate with the LaserHI parts, including the EMCC, and see if the shutter was open.
When 48V was applied to the laser tube, we found 5V "good" signals on the Laser OK, Temperature OK, and Voltage OK lines, and +15V on the +15V output. We asserted the Control Enable and Modulation Input signal lines high for a moment, and our amp meter increased current quickly. We put a piece of paper in the shutter area and made the laser fire again for a couple of seconds, to see what kind of power the laser would draw and if it would light. Current ramped quickly to a steady 18.6 Amps. Before we got a steady reading, basically immediately, the paper burst into flame with a little popping noise! One of the six fans on the laser head doesn't turn (it spins when pressed by a fingertip, it's not stuck; it's dead).
We verified the scanner mirrors move by applying an AC signal to the logic level motion pins on the driver boards, and noting motion of each mirror as expected. The computer boots and loads the former machine software without errors, but we got a "control card not found or no binded" error when we tried to run Han's Laser Marking Software. The Han's ActiveDog program can read the numbers of the dongle and card, but will not Bind them to each other; we suspect the configuration was changed or else the license was corrupted somehow, we are not sure which. The power supplies for the laser and controller gave all green lights on all modules, and we verified proper voltages with a multimeter. No other testing was done.
This is not a fully working system ready to work. A qualified engineer will have to tinker with this to get it marking again. This is being sold AS/IS for parts or repair.
